Myself and a group of other students have recently signed up to help a charity organization known as Off The Record to produce a number of promotional short films for them. The charity is based in Havant which meant myself and two other members of my team went to their office today and had a nice sit down and discussed what kind of film they were looking for us to produce for them. Before today’s first meeting with Sue, who is one of the main co-ordinators at Off the Record, she had given us a brief synopsis for each film she wants us to create. We have been tasked with filming and putting together three individual films all centering on different things but do end up all relating back to the charity itself. This is my first time properly working as a freelance editor, as that is the role I have chosen to put myself in for all three of these projects, which excites me as it allows me a certain sense of freedom whilst at the same time being able to collaborate with a company that can really benefit off of my skills and knowledge that I have to offer in terms of film making and cutting together each film later on. However as it’s almost the end of the year it means that filming will be taking place shortly after the new year if all goes according to plan.
