DV Mission 48 Hour challenge

Today I got the chance to be a part of the crew at Beacon Productions during the 48 Hour DV Mission challenge. What that entails is that a group of filmmakers are given a brief as to what the film needs to be about, so a certain genre is picked, and then it is down to each and every group in the country who has entered to come up with a script. Shoot the entire film in a day and then spend the next day editing the film together all within under 48 hours. For this shoot I was more of a runner in the sense that I would be constantly helping dress the set tailored to the director’s vision for each new shot he would want. Another reason I was at Beacon Productions today was also to have a lot of footage handed over to me seeing how the chairman of the club Steve Launay trusts me now to go away and edit together a behind the scenes featurette for one of his YouTube series titled 80 Degrees. This put a huge smile on my face as I am now faced with another freelancing opportunity in regards to editing someone else’s work which I understand is a very big deal. Especially as this is the type of work I aim to go for as soon as I graduate.
