Beacon Productions Live Show Experience

Beacon Productions gladly welcomed me back into their mad capped world this past weekend by allowing me to help film and set up their annual Live Game Show they do each year. This was exciting for me as it allowed me to witness how complex and complicated setting up a TV studio can be with all the tedious wiring for lights and monitors etc. Along with other certain jobs that needed doing such as installing spotlights that would be controlled later by the team in the green room. Whilst TV production is a tad bit different to film production in terms of kit being set up it wasn’t the only reason I was helping out there the entire weekend. The experience that I did have under my belt came in especially useful when it came down to me manually operating a Black Magic Ursa camera. By operating similar cameras in the past such as Sony FS7’s and Canon C300’s meant that I already had a good understanding as to how this camera would work. Luckily I didn’t need to mess with the settings anyway due to the green room having already set up the settings earlier. However it still meant I had to be 100% focused the entire time whenever the director of the game show would instruct me, through my headset I was wearing, to move to a different part of the studio to obtain a better shot if need be. So other than just being a runner I also managed to capture a lot of footage of the show as well.
